Companies operate in an environment characterised by increasingly complex frameworks. The deviations (risks) of corporate goals usually result from an independent view of complexity drivers or their analysis in the wrong context. Common risk management tools currently only partially capture the combination of networking and effect of influencing factors over time. But only when the structures of the system and the dynamics prevailing in them are understood can a targeted and proactive influence occur in the right places. Based on a holistic cybernetic analysis method, complex risk networks are dynamised using simulation using the example of German mechanical and plant engineering. This allows quantitative explanations of causalities to be derived, the time dependencies of the variables can be represented, as well as the risk behavior analyzed. The aim is to expand knowledge of dynamic risk networks with a holistic, risk management-oriented project management tool based on an interdisciplinary mediation concept, in order to strengthen the competitive position in a complex market environment in the long term.
