Synopsis
The exhibition Blue Notes at the Helmhaus Zurich, February-April 2007, provided an overview of the work of Swiss artist George Steinmann from the last 20 years. This publication documents the show, which included videos and works made of paper, installations and photographs as well as a slide show and wall paintings. Steinmann sees art as a social practice that makes an important contribution to a culture of durability. The question about art's responsibility for society and the environment is the focal point of Steinmann's work, which often stands out because of its decidedly process-oriented approach.
