Synopsis

Susan Turcot's work captures an instant of mental space in the observer's gaze. Drawing for Turcot is a consequence of the will to make visible (and audible) layers which settle uncomfortably beneath the surface. "Complicity and the Daily Draw" brings together, for the first time, nine new series of drawings from 2003 to 2005. Initiated with the onslaught of the war on Iraq they continue as reportage on reportage through the persistence of daily social disruptions. The Canadian London-based artist was invited to show at the 27th Sao Paulo Biennale in 2006 and as a follow up she will be participating in the Biennale de Montreal, Canada in 2007.
