Synopsis
The works produced by the students in Timm Raubert's fine art photography class at the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig are diverse and not in any way purely photographic in nature. The concept of the 'documentary style' has lost its attraction for the younger generation. An initial unifying element lies rather in their difference to the established means of representation of the last two decades. The formal structure of the images is no longer based on the classical distanced viewpoint; instead the objects and the way they relate to each other are staged, the world seems neat and tidy, its photographic image dismantled and digitally reconstructed. It seems as if here, the specific tradition of analytical photography assumes a contemporary form. - photography
