'Zero Gravity' united internationally established as well as lesser known artists whose works (with a few exceptions) are being shown in Dusseldorf for the first time. The exhibition provides insight into contemporary artistic production - in a context in which few social, political, and moral principles still remain, and where there is an almost complete absence of identity-forming experiences extending beyong the specific group. The exhibition presents works by artists who respond to the absence of a general consensus within society by employing a wide array of artistic methods. They work towards positioning themselves artists in a manner that shows careful reflection, and implement strategies from various areas. In the process they refer to the utopia-driven Modern Age, to the art of the 1960s and 1970s, to images from past personal experiences or to the context of the here and now.
