Synopsis

In the year 2006 colleagues of the Universities of Tartu, Helsinki and Munster met in order to launch a European Research Centre for Ancient East-Mediterranean Culture (CAMC) based in Tartu, Estonia, with the general topic of the History of the Transfers of Techniques and Technologies. Afterward, workshops on this theme were organized, including one in 2010 entitled "Patterns of Urbanisation and Cultural Exchange in the Ancient Eastern Mediterranean Regions from the 3rd to the 1st Millennium BC". The contributions of this interesting meeting are published now, giving an overview of urbanisation and its pattern in Mediterranean and Middle East cultures.
