Synopsis

Kostheim, located at the mouth of the Main in the Rhine, is first mentioned as "Copsistaino" in a Charlemagne certificate in 790. In the following centuries, the place experienced a changeable history, which was characterised not least by its proximity to Mainz. Merging into the large neighbouring city in 1913, Kostheim has been part of Wiesbaden since the end of the Second World War.
This illustrated book documents the development of Kostheim from the end of the 19th century to the late 1960s. About 200 previously mostly unpublished photographs reflect life in the wine-growing community. They show the Kostheimer at work in agriculture, viticulture or in one of the numerous factories. The reader also gets an insight into private everyday life, club life and social events.
Ralph Keim, freelance journalist, and Hans Dötsch, very engaged in Kostheimer club life, are considered profound connoisseurs of local history. You have searched for images in private collections in particular. They present the most impressive shots in this picture book, which invites you to a journey into the time when Kostheim was still a small village.
