The digital measurement of physical activities, the pictorial self-staging with the smartphone on the outstretched arm, the partner search via left or right swipe on the display - contemporary media practices each carry out specific stages and performances of the person and their body. This shows cultural dynamics that are determined by the integration of mobile and body-hugging techniques into everyday life, through media and visual turning to the body and by (playful) performance of a work on the self. The contributions of the volume examine these dynamics by asking for current constellations of body, media and self from a sports science, sociological, pedagogical, philosophical and media science perspective.
