At present and in future, more reasons are coming up for executing program code on remote computers. An example is a scenario in which a scientific project is so compute intensive, that even a supercomputer does not provide the necessary compute power. Distributed computing infrastructures or grid computing environments can be utilized for such scenarios. Program code and data require a high level of security, because they contain confidential and sensitive information and must not be manipulated, copied or disclosed in any way. This is not ensured in remote environments, where the operating system and the system administrator cannot be regarded as trustworthy, but can be obtained by a security architecture. This book describes the analysis and improvement of the cache design implemented for such an architecture. The author, Andreas Budde, describes the designed security architecture in general. Based on the description, he begins to analyse it and explains how improvements, for example by Prefetching, should be achieved. This book is addressed to Cache Designers, Processor Developers and Security Architecture Designers, who search for possibilities to improve their Cache Design.
