Synopsis
To mark the 80th birthday of a pioneer of literary modernism on February 9, 2007.
Rainer Maria Gerhardt (1927-1954) was one of the pioneers when it came to giving German literature a new orientation after the Second World War. The fragmented publishing house, which he founded together with his wife Renate and with Claus Bremer, pursued a dizzying ambitious program. In the international revue for modern poetry: fragments published Gerhardt works by Artaud, Miller, Creeley, Olson and Pound. Gerhardt's own seals are trained on this modernity. His unsmoothed pound transfers unsettled at the time, leaving the translator to fail despite Pounds authorization in search of a German publisher. Recognition or a notable echo on Gerhardt's literary program, to which others later successfully attached, were missing. At 27, Gerhardt, financially ruined and literarily isolated, chose suicide. The edition contains Gerhardt's works, documents his publishing work and is supplemented by letters and voices about him.
