Synopsis
Even today, every visitor to Rome impress the remains of the temples, basilicas and monuments of honor of the Imperial Forums. The Italian archaeologist Roberto Meneghini, long-time grave glider on the ›Fori Imperiali‹, examines the creation, development and design of the imperial squares, the buildings and their equipment, as well as their infrastructure. Using numerous photographs, floor plans and schematic drawings created for the first time for this volume, the author explains how people acted and lived on the imperial forums in antiquity. The results of more than twenty years of research are first presented, summarizing the impressive amount of archaeological results and presented in a vivid way.
