The subjects are covered by approximately 65.000 entries in Part 1 and 52.000 entries in Part 2.
Sources referred to for this dictionary include: VDE specifications, DIN, VDI, IEC, BS, ANSI, CEE and ISO standards, technical literature and descriptions and operating instructions from German, British and American companies. The results of the European harmonization of eletrotechnical regulations (DIN/VDE/IEC/CEE) have been taken into account.

This dictionary is the standard work for translators, engineers, and technical writers requiring a comprehensive and reliable compilation of terms from the fields of power generation, transmission and distribution, drive engineering, automation, switchgear and installation engineering, power electronics as well as measurement and test engineering. For this edition, the dictionary has been updated and enlarged by about 40 %. In the translation direction German–English (Volume 1), it now contains 121,000 entries and 166,000 translations, in the translation direction English–German 115,000 entries and 156,000 translations.
