Erstmals wird Partins Blick auf eine junge amerikanische Gesellschaft in einer Monographie vorgelegt.Die Fotografien des amerikanischen Künstlers Ted Partin (\*1977 Tarrytown, New York, lebt in Brooklyn, New York) berühren auf subtile wie auch intelligente Weise. Sein Sujet sind die Menschen, die er in alltäglichen Situationen festhält: in den Straßen von Großstädten, zu Hause in der Wohnung, im Auto oder in der freien Natur. Mit den Mitteln der analogen Fotografie (Fachkamera) und in einem zeitlich aufwendigen Prozess entstehen Aufnahmen, in denen die Personen eine natürliche Pose einnehmen. Die Szenen wirken intim und distanziert zugleich. Die Menschen zeigen sich nackt und ohne Scheu. Der Betrachter ist Vertrauter und Voyeur zugleich. Dennoch erfährt er kaum etwas über die dargestellten Personen, ihren sozialen Stand oder ihre Herkunft. Ein unlösbarer Widerspruch ruht in den Fotografien, der seinen Ausgangspunkt in dem dokumentarischen Realitätsanspruch und dem filmischen Inszenierungswillen des Fotografen hat. Die Fotografien entsprechen daher einer Bestandsaufnahme menschlicher, örtlicher und sozialer Zustände und sind zugleich empfindsame Impressionen. Die Kunstmuseen Krefeld präsentieren im Museum Haus Esters rund 50 Fotoarbeiten, an denen Partin seit Ende des Jahres 2009 arbeitet. Das Katalog-Buch bildet alle Fotografien, darunter auch erstmals farbige Fotoarbeiten, großformatig ab. Die Textbeiträge von Klaus Honnef und Jeffrey Ladd sowie ein Interview legen den Grundstein für die weiterführende theoretische Diskussion um das fotografische Werk dieses Künstlers. 120 pp. Deutsch, Englisch.
