Synopsis

The volume answers the questions of what interests Heidegger has had in rhetoric and how strongly this interest has promoted the 'return of rhetoric' in philosophy. In Heidegger's oeuvre, there is no publication with the title 'About Rhetoric'; however, he has once dealt very intensively with rhetoric, and with its Aristotelian shape. While this examination may have been of little weight for his thinking, the influence of rhetoric on the categorical equipment of existential analysis in 'being and time' is indisputable. Equally undisputed is the model character of the rhetoric for the danger of decay of an unactual existence from which to liberate philosophy as its original task, whether it is using philosophically purified basic concepts, whether it is with the help of a political philosophical project that in a highly risky way the eruption from the Platonic cave with the NNS opening dared to bring into relationship.
