Synopsis
The investigation does not want to participate in the demonisation of Hitler nor even pursue his bagatellisation or further lament about the lack of yield of previous rhetorics-oriented research. Rather, the authors assume that Hitler's share in the success of National Socialism is attributable to a considerable extent to the effectiveness of his rhetoric. On the basis of this elusively disputable fact, an attempt is made to answer the question of why Hitler was so successful as a speaker, with the help of methodologically broadly scattered investigation procedures and by systematic reference to speech-transcending theories of National Socialism. Last but not least, it is about an assessment to what extent the conditions of success of Hitler's rhetoric can be considered obsolete today.
