Synopsis
«Groundswell» stellt insgesamt 23 ausgewählte Projekte von zwölf internationalen Landschaftsarchitekten vor, darunter so wichtige Figuren wie Kathryn Gustafson, West 8, Peter Latz und Christophe Girot. Der Fokus der Arbeiten liegt auf Orten im urbanen Kontext, häufig Schauplätze von Konflikt (Beirut), ökologischer Verwüstung (Müllhalde Fresh Kills auf Staten Island, New York) oder Vernachlässigung und Brachenbildung (Duisburg Nord). Sämtliche Projekte schaffen öffentlichen Raum und gewinnen so vorher unzugängliches oder verwahrlostes Territorium zurück. Der Essay von Peter Reed leistet eine Einordnung der Arbeiten in den gegenwärtigen Diskurs über Landschaftsarchitektur. Das Buch erscheint anläßlich einer Ausstellung im New Yorker Museum of Modern Art.
