Synopsis
Validity is considered the specific form of existence of law. However, norms obviously exist even if they do not yet apply but are already subject to legislative proceedings, or in court proceedings in which their lack of validity is first established. The unbundling of existence and validity of law provides the key to a redefinition of both the concept of validity and existence. This redetermination then allows the relations between existence, validity, effectiveness and legitimacy of law to be systematically ordered. This also opens up a new perspective on the concept of law itself.
