This dissertation contains three essays on the topic of executive compensation. Essay I investigates the impact of long-term incentives in executive compensation on the risk-taking behavior of German firms. Essay II explores the effects of different compensation systems on the risk-taking behavior of individuals who assume the role of executives in a laboratory experiment. Essay III studies the influence of the physical attractiveness of executive board members of German firms on the level of their compensation.
