The evolution and energy production process of stars is dependent on their masses. Stars are observed to lose mass during their evolution along the Red Giant Branch (RGB). Therefore, by the time stars reach the Red Giant Clump (RGC), they are said to have undergone enormous mass loss. This may inturn affect the evolutionary path of these stars. Using the data from the Kepler open cluster, NGC 6819, the masses of stars along the RGB and RGC were obtained using the asteroseismic parameters (such as maximum pulsational frequency and large frequency separation). The age of the RGC stars was obtained using the age - metallicity relation. The mass loss mechanisms, amount of mass lost by stars from RGB to RGC, the effect of mass loss on the distribution of stars at the Clump are discussed in detail in this book.
