Synopsis

This is a study on the evaluation Community housing Projects under peoples plan in Kerala with reference to Thrissur district.The study evaluated three housing schemes like Indira Awas Yojana ( IAY), EMS housing project and MN Laksham veedu reconstruction project. Our study comprised 300 samples from Mullurkkara Panchayath of Vadakkanchery block and Mattathur, Thrikkur and Pudukkad Panchayath of Kodakara block, since these blocks have implemented large number of Community Housing Projects.Based on the detailed study of the three Community Housing Projects, it is noted that the projects have been generally efficient in terms of macro and micro level indicators. Moreover, on the basis of the direct response of the beneficiaries, it is noted that in both EMS and MNLP schemes, they are 100 % satisfied with the schemes. Still, more improvement in the implementation of the scheme is needed. Beneficiaries should also take keen interest in the construction and maintenance of their house.
