Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA) can be used an effective vibration control device. A (DVA) is essentially a secondary mass, attached to an original system via a spring and damper. The natural frequency of the DVA is tuned such that it coincides with the frequency of unwanted vibration in the original system. The Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) springs have got a range of stiffness varying from austenite state to martensitic state and this takes place in a cyclic manner due to repeated heating and cooling respectively. Their physical properties vary as a function of temperature. The stiffness of the spring can be controlled by varying the electrical current supplied to it. An active dynamic vibration absorber has been developed with the help of SMA springs to attenuate the vibration for a range of frequencies of the primary system. The design of SMA springs has been done. A shaker was used to generate the real-time vibration. In the experimental setup, an accelerometer is used to measure the vibration which is fed to the computer and simultaneously the SMA springs are actuated to change its stiffness which controls the vibration of the primary system and simulated using FEA
