Synopsis

Rice is the most important food crop of the world being staple food for more than half of the world's population. Rice is nutrient dense and contributes over 15 vitamins and minerals. It is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates. Essential amino acids are present in Rice which the human body cannot manufacture on its own. It also contains resistant starch which encourages growth of beneficial bacteria. It is infested by a number of pathogens including nematodes. During the present study eight nematode species were isolated from three varieties of rice. Different organic soil amendments were used for the management of nematodes. This information is useful for parasitologists, nematologists and farmers.
