Synopsis
For two weeks, young Velvet can escape their poor conditions and take holidays in a rural suburb. In this upscale environment, Velvet immediately attracts attention; but not only her host mother, but also a special horse will change her life sustainably.
Velvet lives in a poor neighborhood of New York with her single mother with no English proficiency and younger brother. She is eleven years old when she comes to idyllic Rhinebeck as part of an exchange program. Velvet's dark skin colour immediately stands out in the wealthy, white place of residence; in addition, the girl with his loud behavior corners everywhere. But guest mother Ginger receives Velvet with open arms. After their stay, the contact between the two does not break. But only a human-shy mare lets Velvet grow and understand what is really important in life.
