The first part of this book deals with codes and their uses (cryptography), whilst the second deals with the process of covertly decrypting a secret code (cryptanalysis). The book presupposes only elementary mathematical knowledge and this, combined with stories from the history of cryptology, makes it suitable for the general reader.
