The 10 papers selected for this special issue are devoted to various aspects of computational methods, algorithms and techniques in bioinformatics. They present recent progress in areas such as very complex networks in living systems, including: regulatory networks for gene expression; intracellular metabolic networks; and both intra- and intercellular communication networks.
