Synopsis

Since the beginnings of systemic counseling and therapy, women have made important contributions to the development of theory and practice. Few of them are known today, because even in systemic discourse, patriarchal structures, beliefs and patterns of behavior have left traces. The pioneers of systemic practice pursued the goal of not only creating a good accompaniment of clients, but also to point out and change obstacles of social structures, interaction patterns and prevailing power relations. Tanja Kuhnert and Nikola Siller travel to the roots of systemics to recontextualise and develop systemic theory and practice gender-sensitive and power-critical together with many colleagues. They pay tribute to the creation and work of many women involved in the development of systemic thought and action, and show how patriarchal patterns work in systemic theory and practice. This volume bundles feminist, power-critical and discrimination-sensitive views on systemics and places them in a historical and socio-political framework. At the same time, the book makes Stumbling Blocks of equal cooperation visible and contains numerous impulses for reflection and further development of systemics.
