The stereotype that men grieve differently than women persists. Male grief is often associated with activism, functioning, repression or emotional hardship. Such attributions lead to a one-sided and thus also narrow view of mourning men. As a result, men – but at the same time women too – are stereotypically fixed on certain behaviors, instead of being encouraged to grieve in their own individual way and thereby correspond to their own image of masculinity. It's easy to lose sight of why people mourn the way they mourn. Norbert Mucksch and Traugott Roser question clichés by looking at grieving men from very different perspectives. Dr. Traugott Roser, evangelischer Pfarrer, ist Professor fÃ"r Praktische Theologie mit den Schwerpunkten Seelsorge, Spiritual Care und Palliative Care an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität MÃ"nster. Zuvor war er einige Jahre als Seelsorger in den Bereichen Palliative Care, Krankenhaus und Altenheim tätig.
