Synopsis
Statistical process control has become a major tool in manufacturing to improve productivity and product quality. The aim of this book is to teach the principles of statistical process control, SPC, and extrusion process technology in an integrated fashion. The book is intended to help in the introduction of SPC in extrusion operations. It also covers the main elements of extrusion technology and shows how extrusion machinery should be configured to achieve good extruder performance and how the process can be run efficiently. The book is aimed at those working in the polymer processing industry, particularly those involved in extrusion operations. The mathematical complexity of the main part of the book has been kept to a minimum to make the information accessible and digestible to as many people as possible. The only exception is the last chapter on advanced statistical techniques, which requires a reasonable familiarity with mathematics.
