Synopsis

Tübingen 1554: When Ulrich Morhart, the only book printer of Württemberg, dies surprisingly, the printing shop goes to his wife Magdalena and his son Ulrich - and for Magdalena a hard time begins. Although she has helped in the workshop for years and even designed the mark of the printing shop, she suddenly encounters resistance among the workers: they look at her stepson Ulrich rather than her new master and cannot accept a woman as a superior.
But when her stepson proves to be incapable and almost destroys the operation, Magdalena makes a consequential decision: she takes over the sole management of the book printing shop. From now on, she has not only her stepson against her, but also the citizens of the city, because a woman as the mistress of a book printing shop violates the divine order!
In the restless times of the Reformation, Magdalena must soon fight not only for her reputation, but for her existence...
