Synopsis

The wireless communication channels suffer from attenuation due to destructive multipath fading in the propagation medium and interference from other users. This book presents the way to reduce the multipath fading in communication channel or to increase the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the communication channel with the help of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmitter and receiver systems, therefore to improve the signal quality in fading channel. Data is encoded using space time block code (STBC) and encoded data is split into n streams. Which are simultaneously transmitted using n transmit antennas . The received signal at each receive antenna is a linear superposition of n transmitted signals perturbed by noise. Maximum likelihood decoding is achieved in a simple way through decoupling of the signals transmitted from different antennas rather than the joint detection. The orthogonal structure of STBC is used and gives to maximum likelihood decoding algorithm.
