Synopsis
Human hand is a delicate and complicated multisystem organization. It provides sensory information and performs various movements to let us interact with the physical environment.At an individual level the consequences of stroke can be devastating. Residual neurologic deficits can impact upon an individual’s ability to move (e.g. Walking), perform activities of daily living (ADL) (e.g. Feeding, dressing, grooming) & impair the quality of life. Stroke can affect each aspect of an individual’s life as represented by the WHO’s International Classification of Functioning, disability & health. It can impair bodily functions & structure, limit activity & restrict participation. Globally stroke is the third most common cause of death [after Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) & cancers]. It is leading cause of permanent disability, frequently associated with severe loss of motor capacity.
