Synopsis

The present research work is on gastro retentive floating matrix tablet of Quetiapine fumarate by using various hydrophilic polymers. The formulation was developed by using different concentrations of polymers of various grades of HPMC. Then Gas generating agent sodium bicarbonate concentration was optimized. The formulation blend was subjected to various pre-formulation studies, and all the formulations were found to be good indicating that the powder blend has good flow properties. Among the different control release polymers, HPMC K100M was showing highest drug release retarding capacity. F2 was showing the satisfactory results. For F2 formulation diffusion exponent n value is in between 0.45 to 0.89 so they are following non fickianan molous diffusion model. Higuchi plot for F2 formulation is having good correlation values so the drug is releasing diffusion mechanism; they were unable to retard drug release up to 12 hrs. This book, therefore, benefits the M. Pharmacy project students those who are interested to work in GRDDS.
