The book is about the description of regional interests and opportunities raised after the development of 9/11 in the center of three great ancient civilizations of South Asia, Central Asia and Middle East. India and Afghanistan’s relations remained cordial since partition of Sub Continent besides having religious differences. India delt Afghanistan through the strategic lens of Pakistan-centric rivalry, therefore it stayed an important factor in the formulation of Indian foreign policy. India faced a strategic setback after the emergence of Pakistan-back Taliban with loosing complete political influence in Kabul. But 9/11 episode presented a golden opportunity to New Delhi to revive its old ties with Afghanistan. Taking advantage of the new scenario, India intervened in the Afghan national scene and adopted a “soft power” strategy to uplift the Afghan people. India seems to take active role in Afghanistan on behest of US but Pakistan is the main challenge for India to deal with. As long as both India and Pakistan would not be able to fix their interests and join hands to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan, the vision of regional peace and stability will remain at stake.
