Synopsis
Karel Jongeling stellt alle neopunischen Texte dar, die bisher veröffentlicht wurden. Dabei behandelt er auch die schwierigen und unlesbaren Texte. Damit gibt er für alle, die auf diesem oder einem angrenzenden Gebiet arbeiten einen Überblick über die Texte, die oftmals in wenig zugänglichen Zeitschriften oder anderen Ausgaben erschienen sind: nordwest-semitische Inschriften, nordafrikanische Gesellschaft zur Zeit Roms, aber auch alttestamentliche Studien. Ein kurzer Kommentar zu jedem Text informiert nicht nur über die Lesart des jeweiligen Herausgebers, sondern auch über die Lesart, die von anderen vorgeschlagen wurde, um dem Leser die Möglichkeit zu geben, sich selbst ein Urteil zu bilden. An einigen Beispielen schlägt Karel Jongeling neue Lesarten vor. Da die Lesarten und die Bedeutung der Texte ein bedeutendes Thema dieser Ausgabe ist, kann es auch Studierenden empfohlen werden, die auf dem Gebiet der semitischen Linguistik im Allgemeinen arbeiten.
