One dies. One will forget. One is killed. Something is lost. What to do? "Mother dying", these are snapshots of everyday experiences that are about saying goodbye. They tell of remembering and how trying to imagine situations and processes can become tragic, or absurd or comic. Small things become monstrosities, existential becomes bagatelle. As melancholic as they are unsentimental, the stories sign the partly grotesque attempts to deal with a loss that suddenly unfolds a life of its own.
Everything becomes a sensation and at the same time becomes inconsequential and invalid. A journey on the plane makes the narrator lose the ground underfoot, smoking a cigarette inevitably transports readers to the zoo, watching a TV crime brings the imagination to a confusion. Here you get to know the animal kingdom, visit Berlin, Paris and Olevano Romano near Rome and perhaps find that language always speaks itself, but never can bring things to the point.
