Synopsis

Lined by Swiss Mountain Pine and Larches, the mountain path leads to the Waldhotel Fletschhorn at the outskirts of Saas-Fee like a red carpet. This is the domain of chef Markus Neff, whose culinary excellence has won him a Michelin Star and eighteen points in the GaultMillau. The «Chef of the Year 2007» grew up in the Austrian Province of Vorarlberg, where he also learned his trade. In 1983, when the time came to choose between «Switzerland or the Boat», he chose the Fletschhorn in the Swiss Valais. In 2003, he took over the management of the Hotel with Maren Müller und Charlie Neumüller, both of whom had also been working in the Fletschhorn for many years previously. There are few great chefs who, like Markus, have such a facility with the simple and the complex alike. The many regulars of the Fletschhorn typically stock up their calories for a strenuous hike with a plate of cheese spätzle at lunchtime and relax with a light and elegant dinner in the evening. The Fletschhorn owes his character to the many local originals frequenting it, the Valais winegrowers and their products, the mushroom collectors, shepherds, dairymen and hunters all of them with a story to tell.
