About the Author
Né à Cherbourg, Rémy Desquesnes a fait ses études universitaires en histoire à Caen et à Rouen. En 1986, il soutenait à Caen une thèse de doctorat sur le Mur de l’Atlantique et la politique défensive de l’Allemagne sur le front ouest (1941-1944). Après une carrière d’enseignant, il a été consultant historique au Mémorial de Caen puis chargé de mission au conseil régional de Basse-Normandie. Il est aujourd’hui à la retraite et l’auteur de plusieurs livres historiques sur le Mur de l’Atlantique, le Débarquement et la bataille de Normandie ainsi que d’un ouvrage consacré à une collection de photographies inédites, relative à la seconde guerre mondiale vue par les grands reporters de l’agence Magnum.
