This is a theological study about life after life. "Life Beyond Death" is an academic study of the theology of life after life, examining the ways various biblical texts talk about life after death and "the end times." It walks the reader through the ways the Christian tradition has interpreted life and death over the centuries. The power of this work is in the way Martinez demonstrates how our understanding of death has shifted. It is characterized as a medical "failure" rather than a moment of potential "final damnation." in either case, fear and taboo have taken over from what the church actually teaches about not "the" end in general, but "our" end in particular.
