About the Author
C. S. Forester (1899-1966) est né au Caire, où son père était officier, et passe son enfance en Orient. À vingt ans, après de courtes études, il achète un bateau et sillonne les océans. Un premier roman, écrit à vingt-quatre ans, connaît d'emblée le succès. En 1937, il inaugure la saga Hornblower, considérée aujourd'hui comme un classique de la littérature maritime.
