Synopsis
Aminata Sow Fall nous fait pénétrer dans la vie du président d'un nouvel Etat indépendant africain non précisé. Madiama, l'ancien infirmier de l'hôpital de Lebar, horrifié par les scandales des "médicaments", osa protester et fut emprisonné pendant six mois. Il fonda ensuite avec ses amis un syndicat qui le mena à la députation puis à la présidence. Mais les difficultés l'assaillent vite. Le pouvoir devient si insupportable au "Père de la Nation" qu'il décida de démissionner. Mais à de si hautes fonctions peut-on rester maître de son destin ? Très beau roman, qu'on lit d'une traite, subjugué par la personnalité ambiguë du président, audacieux et craintif, amoureux du pouvoir et ne sachant pas lutter contre des conseillers malhonnêtes.

Aminata Sow Fall est née à Saint-Louis du Sénégal. Professeur de Lettres de formation, elle est actuellement directrice des Lettres et de la Propriété intellectuelle au Sénégal. L'Ex-Père de la Nation est son quatrième roman.
