Synopsis
Under the pretext of recreating the history of the Espernals, the people of luck, and the way in which men tried to seize possession of their secrets, Arnaud Rykner recounts a tale in which he inserts poems (Shakespeare, Henri Van Dyke, Emily Dickinson, Ella Higginson...), aphorisms ("Luck is the smile of the unknow", Étienne Rey; "Better an ounce of luck than a pound of gold", Yiddish proverb....), and fables. Beautifully illustrated by Frank Secka, this heartwarming book inspires reflections on and dreams of earthly joys.

About the Authors
Né en 1966, Arnaud Rykner, vit à Paris. Ses précédents romans ont tous été publiés dans la brune. Arnaud Rykner a par ailleurs fait paraître plusieurs essais et éditions critiques chez José Corti, au Seuil et chez Gallimard. Il a édité le théâtre de Nathalie Sarraute dans la Pléiade. Metteur en scène, il a notamment monté des textes de Cocteau, Sarraute, Maeterlinck et Dominique Hubin.
Né en 1965, Frank Secka vit à Paris. Après des études supérieures d'arts graphiques, il se consacre un temps à la direction artistique en agence. Il est aujourd'hui concepteur de jeux, réalisateur de films d'animation et graphiste pour l'édition. Il a publié plusieurs romans et contes au Rouergue dans les collections jeunesse ainsi qu'un livre illustré pour les adultes.
