About the Author
André Goosse naît à Liège (Belgique) le 16 avril 1926. Les nombreuses lectures qu'offre la bibliothèque paternelle éveillent une passion certaine pour la langue française. Il entame des études de philologie romane en 1945 à l'Université catholique de Louvain où il rencontre Marie-Thérèse Grevisse, fille de l'illustre grammairien. Ils se marieront en 1950. Après une expérience dans l'enseignement secondaire, il devient professeur dans son université en 1967. Déjà membre de plusieurs institutions littéraires, il entre à l'Académie royale de langue et littérature françaises de Belgique le 9 octobre 1976. Il en devient le secrétaire perpétuel de 1996 à 2001. Très vite associé à son beau-père Maurice Grevisse, il prend sa succession afin d'assurer la pérennité du Bon Usage. Avec toujours plus de rigueur, André Goosse continue à actualiser et enrichir ce gigantesque tableau de la langue française.
