Synopsis
Using outcrop observations for reservoir characterization is now considered of prime importance to obtain quantitative data on reservoir heterogeneities. Indeed, looking at outcrop is the best way to obtain data in two dimensions and even three dimensions on geological features at every scale. It thus avoids the hazardous interpolations between wells, which commonly occur in subsurface reservoir characterization. The purpose of this research conference was to pool the experiences of different universities, research institutes and companies in this field of research.
