Olivier Saillard est actuellement directeur du musée Galliera, le musée de la mode de la Ville de Paris. Historien de la mode reconnu, il a été le commissaire de nombreuses expositions à succès telles "Madame Grès, la couture à l'oeuvre" (musée Bourdelle), "Christian Lacroix, histoires de mode", "Yohji Yamamoto, juste des vêtements", "Sonia Rykiel, exhibition" et "Couturiers superstars" (Arts décoratifs), "Andy Warhol et la mode" (musée de la Mode, Marseille)...

Il est l'auteur d'une histoire des maillots de bain (Du Chêne) et très récemment d'une complète «Histoire idéale de la mode contemporaine »(Textuel). En outre, il a été lauréat de la villa Kujoyama. Il mène un travail poétique présenté sous forme de performance chaque saison de défilé de haute couture, précisant un travail réflexif et sensible où le vêtement est toujours le coeur du sujet.
