Georges Simenon, ecrivain belge de langue francaise, est ne a Liege en 1903. Il a ecrit soixante-quinze romans mettant en scene les aventures de Maigret (ainsi que vingt-huit nouvelles). Des 1931, Simenon commence a ecrire ce qu'il appellera ses
romans durs plus de cent dix titres. Simenon s'est eteint a Lausanne en 1989.
