Synopsis
Remarquable romancière, observatrice souvent cruelle des lâchetés humaines, Irène Némirovsky est l'auteur d'une oeuvre singulière à laquelle la barbarie nazie a mis un terme en 1942. Largement autobiographique, Le Vin de solitude (1935) retrace le destin d'une famille russe réfugiée à Paris. Le déracinement, l'isolement, mais aussi la farouche volonté de s'affranchir de tous les carcans sont au coeur de ce huis clos famillial oppressant. Irène Némirovsky brosse le portrait sans concession d'une jeune fille qui tente d'échapper à l'emprise de sa mère une grande bourgeoise mariée à un " Juif obscur ", pour laquelle elle n'éprouve que de la haine. Récit d'une douloureuse libération, ce roman subversif confirme, s'il en était besoin, le talent d'un des plus grands écrivains du XXe siècle.

About the Author
Irène Némirovsky est née en 1903 à Kiev. En 1926, elle publie son premier roman, Le Malentendu. D’autres suivront. Mais la Seconde Guerre mondiale éclate. Le 13 juillet 1942, Irène Némirovsky est arrêtée par la gendarmerie française, internée au camp de Pithiviers puis déportée à Auschwitz, où elle meurt le 17 août 1942.
