Synopsis
Les Landes, en 1941. Nina, 17 ans, vit dans un village entre sa grand-mère, sa tante, toutes deux détestables, et son père. Sa mère est morte. Elle est amoureuse de son cousin Jean et des chevaux. Elle adore monter à cheval au petit matin, dans la forêt. Mais les Allemands sont là. Nina tuerait bien celui qui se permet de monter sa jument, Querelle. Elle fera pire en succombant à l'étrange douceur du cavalier ennemi, passant avec lui un pacte de chair scandaleux... Le Petit Matin est le roman de l'occupation d'un cœur et d'un pays. C'est la guerre et son hypocrisie, son héroïsme, ses langueurs. On a comparé Christine de Rivoyre à Colette pour son amour des animaux et l'évocation de la nature. Quand elle peint la nature humaine, Rivoyre ne ressemble qu'à Rivoyre, dans son jusqu'au-boutisme émotif, sa sincérité vitale et tragique.

Christine de Rivoyre est née à Tarbes. Petite-fille d’explorateur. Fille d’officier de carrière (Cadre noir). Romancière chez Grasset (Les Sultans, Boy). Prix Prince-Pierre-de-Monaco et prix Paul-Morand pour l’ensemble de son ½uvre. Écologiste convaincue, Christine de Rivoyre partage son temps entre Paris, les Landes et l’Inde.
