Synopsis
On ne peut parler avec justesse de l'horreur que sur un ton paisible, sans remous ni éclats. C'est le parti qu'a choisi Rachid Mimouni pour nous raconter l'histoire d'un enfant, d'un adolescent puis d'un adulte - celui qu'on appellera Tombéza - qui, né dans d'horribles circonstances, parcourra toutes les horribles circonstances qui mèneront à la naissance de la nouvelle Algérie. Et quand, ayant fait son trou dans cette société qui se cherche à tâtons, parvenu à l'honorabilité et presque aux honneurs, il sera abattu par plus corrompus que lui, s'achèvera la trajectoire d'un destin maudit. Au-delà du portrait d'un homme monstrueux - et finalement extraordinairement attachant - , Tombéza décrit une société en déréliction où les hommes, en plein désarroi, s'interrogent sur le bien et le mal, ainsi que sur cette force de perversion qui pourrit leur être et leur monde.

About the Author
Rachid Mimouni est né en 1945, à Boudouaou, à l'est d'Alger, d'une famille de paysans. Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages dont Une peine à vivre, L'Honneur de la Tribu et La Malédiction. Il est décédé à Paris en 1995.
