About the Author
Régine Deforges est née à Montmorillon dans le Poitou où elle est élevée dans différentes institutions religieuses. Très tôt, les livres constituent son univers d'élection : elle devient tour à tour libraire, relieur, éditeur, scénariste, réalisateur et écrivain. Elle ouvre plusieurs librairies, tant à Paris qu'en province, et crée, en 1968, sa propre maison d'édition, l'Or du temps, et devient de ce fait la première femme éditeur française. Le premier livre qu'elle publie, Irène, attribué à Louis Aragon, est saisi quarante-huit heures après sa mise en vente. Dès cet instant, Régine Deforges se bat et ne cessera plus de se battre pour défendre la liberté d'expression sous toutes ses formes. Elle publie une centaine d'ouvrages (notamment des livres d'Apollinaire, Gautier, Restif de la Bretonne et Mandiargue, entre autres), dont la plupart font l'objet d'interdictions diverses voire, pour certains, de poursuites pour outrage aux bonnes moeurs. De nombreux procès et de lourdes amendes l'obligent à déposer son bilan.
