About the Author
Alan Bennett est né en 1934 à Leeds. Professeur de littérature médiévale à l'université d'Oxford, il embrasse finalement une carrière d'auteur, acteur, dramaturge, scénariste et humoriste. Il a marqué le théâtre, la télévision et la scène littéraire contemporaine britannique. Son oeuvre sarcastique, qui met en scène toutes sortes de personnages dans leur vie quotidienne, a remporté un succès jamais démenti depuis plus de quarante, ans.
